A recent report from Precedence Research Reveals that the Asia Pacific region is the front-runner in the global electric scooters market, accounting for approximately 70% share in the year 2021, and is predicted to witness significant growth over the upcoming years.

The Indian government is making efforts to promote electric scooters. The government announced the PM E-Drive Scheme, which starts in October 2024 and extends till 2026. Under the scheme, the OEM will get a subsidy of Rs. 5,000 per scooter with a cap of Rs. 10,000. It will be reduced to just Rs. 2,500, with a cap of Rs. 5,000 per scooter by October 2025.
